People, Pollinators and Plants – A Partnership that works!

Birds, bats, bees, butterflies, beetles, and other small mammals that pollinate plants are responsible for bringing us one out of every three bites of food. They also sustain our ecosystems and produce our natural resources by helping plants reproduce. (http://pollinator.org/pollinators) Ken Eraas of the Ward County Extension Service shares information on plants and practices that attract these amazing creatures to our gardens and how to protect them!

Join us September 26 at 6 pm for Ken’s always entertaining presentation and some light snacks provided by The Prairie Bistro. Free!.

Old Man Winter

Ever want to eat your words? The last line in my last post was “Bring it on, Old Man Winter!” All Tucked In!

Well, my challenge was heard. I’m sorry!

We, like so many others in our snow-laden area, have taken a hit from the 55 inches of snow we were “blessed” with over the Christmas season.

A hoop structure of aluminum and plastic was no match for all that white, fluffy stuff.

img_1904

I take it back! Come on, Spring! We won’t take this lying down! Well, not for long, at least.

We are planning our spring schedule, honing up for workshops, classes and Dirty Dining.

IMG_1804We are adjusting our orders to be sure we still get the cool new fun stuff squeezed into the houses that are still standing.

You can’t keep plant lovers away from the green stuff!

P1020703“Surely as cometh the winter, I know there are Spring violets under the snow.”Anon.

Stay tuned for info on all the news from The Flower House Garden Center! We’ve got lots of great stuff up our sleeves.

Winter storm Blanche is on her way! We have enjoyed a nice long autumn.

We planted our last perennial bed a few weeks ago. Finally!

The perennials have been cleaned up, cut off……..
